Gallium nitride, or "GaN" for short, is increasingly being used for semiconductors in chargers. The positive property of GaN is that it generates little heat.
Little heat means that components can be installed closer together without restricting performance capacity and safety standards. Because of this, GaN chargers can be made smaller than e.g. chargers with silicon.

In terms of heat development and electrical conductivity, silicon is limited in the construction of the components or specified to a minimum size.
This is different with GaN! GaN is a crystalline material that can conduct much higher voltages. With components made of GaN, the electric current can flow faster and accelerate the charging process!
